Updates from the Troop!

9/16/2024:

Dear Troop 53039,

A few updates: We started the year with a bang, and the girls seemed pumped!

A few things to note:

Next Meeting: Due to a conflict, We do not have a meeting this Thursday. Our next meeting is Thursday, 9/26 at 6:30

There is no event on Sunday—no archery, no JAID (Journey in a Day Taylor Swift Cadette media badge this Sunday). The girls voted to do these activities on different days.

Calendar Jenn will update the calendar invites very soon that she sent out and will update the troop website dates www.GSTroop53039.com

Archery on Saturday, October 5th . This will be in the afternoon. more information to follow. Jenn will be there, but I will be at a baseball tournament in Rehoboth Beach with Jack that weekend, so we will need another parent chaperone and carpool.  (Scout POC Ari and Isla Rose)

Juliette Gordon Low Birhday Celebration with Tea on the Town Our troop likes to honor the founder of Girl Scouts with an annual celebration and this year, the girls want to get fancy and do Tea on the Town. We are going to set a date, but think this will be a fun way to see the sights and be fancy. It;ll be in late October.  (Scout POC Gabby and Bri)

Skating Sunday 11/5-The girls voted to go roller skating (I guess they decided to channel their parents 1980s childhoods..) The skating rink is in Woodbridge, but mark your calendar and more to come.  (Scout POC Lucinda and Claire)

Election Day 11/5 Bakesale- The girls are keen to fundraise for the troop and voted to host an Election Day bake sale to sell goodies to voters queuing to vote at the Bush Hill Elementary School polling location.  (Scout POC Cassandra)

We will need baked good donations (homemade and storebought) as well as parent volunteers to chaperone the girls. Jenn will be serving at a polling location ensuring folks can vote and I will be trying to get voters out to vote by volunteering on a campaign. Please let us know if you are able to help out at this non-partisan event.

Journey in a Day: Taylor Swift Media Cadette Journey Badge 11/9

This is an optional self-sign-up. The girls did not want to do it as a troop. There are strong opinions both ways about Taylor so it's an optional thing. We do know a certain former president is not a fan lol.

Here is the Facebook page on it: https://www.facebook.com/events/341041422386108?ref=newsfeed
